Last week we announced MOVEit 8.0. Our customers have already given us tremendously positive feedback on the release, both through our beta program and through a record turnout for our First Look Webinar. That’s because MOVEit 8.0 delivers on exactly what we set out to do: solve customers’ problems around file transfer today, while anticipating problems that will surface in the future.
The MOVEit 8.0 release extends Managed File Transfer’s security, visibility and control to mobile devices. Mobile is everywhere. You don’t need an Apple iPhone announcement to remind you how hot mobile is these days. In 2014, most airplanes will have high speed wifi, forcing thousands of professionals to forego naps and work on their mobile devices during their business flights. More and more content is being distributed using mobile devices–within large enterprise and Mom & Pop start-ups. Last weekend I attended an outdoor food expo and bought some fresh pasta. The vendor used a mobile device to ring up my purchase and process the credit card transaction.
So our customers, who are mostly IT professionals, are undoubtedly seeing this too, and feeling the pressure directly from end users in their organizations. When we were planning what to include in MOVEit 8.0, we heard loud and clear that they wanted three things:
1) IT departments want to give users the ability to transfer work files using their mobile devices while keeping the enterprise security they rely on with MOVEit. They want to allow users to upload and download files from either iOS or Android phones and tablets. Most importantly, they want to extend the secure, compliant, file-based processes to people when they are mobile.
2) Both IT departments and end users want flexible options to control the security of their emails and/or attachments. MOVEit 8.0 brings the option to secure the email or the attachment, giving organizations flexible options over file transfer security. Some emails contain content that needs to be secured for compliance reasons, some do not. For those that do not, most people prefer to have the context around the message.
3) Maintain a tight focus on rock solid security to ensure files are protected both at motion and at rest. MOVEit 8.0 brings the latest in vulnerability protection with support for OWASP Top 10, an enhanced security wizard that streamlines the lockdown process, and integration with the major anti-virus packages (McAfee added to Symantec, and Sophos).
A heartfelt thank you to all of our supportive customers who continue to provide feedback and insight to make MOVEit the champion managed file transfer product. To those companies just learning about managed file transfer and what it can do for you, learn more about MOVEit 8 and how it gives you a managed file transfer system to meet your requirements now and into the future. And, finally, congratulations to the Ipswitch File Transfer teams who worked tireless hours to make this release a reality – a great step forward and many more to come.
