Scientific American uses WS_FTP to address file transfer and large email attachment issues
It was important that I knew who was coming in and what had been downloaded, and to be able to do some reporting on it.
Roger Hirschkind, IT Director, Scientific American
Scientific American is translated into more than 15 foreign language editions and has more than 1,000,000 copies in circulation worldwide. Primarily an Apple Macintosh operation, the company needed a file transfer solution that worked well with that platform and would be readily accessible by the foreign language editions published in other countries.
After first looking at Microsoft, Scientific American turned to Ipswitch to deliver the level of visibility and reporting it required. Now when a file transfer client downloads a file via WS_FTP Server, Scientific American can verify that the download is complete and did not change during the download.
